With the Congress High Command maintaining a stoic silence on the issue of granting permission to Odarpu yatra of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, the Congress MP, and party leaders in the state are keeping their fingers crossed.
Preparations are in full swing in Srikakulam for Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra scheduled for July 8. However, Jagan seems to be heading for a confrontation with the High Command. The Jagan camp leaders are confident that the High Command will not take offence to the Odarpu yatra.
Further, they justify the Odarpu yatra as Jagan met PCC chief DSrinivas and Chief Minister K Rosaiah before the launch and had their blessings.
Every time when he goes on Odarpu yatra he need not take permission. This is Jagan’s personal yatra and the party is in no way concerned with this programme.
Meanwhile, Verrappa Moily, the AICC general secretary who is incharge of Andhra Pradesh, said the final decision on Odarpu yatra rests with the High command.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah who was in Delhi on Friday was asked to broach the subject of Odarpu yatra with Sonia Gandhi during his meeting with the AICC president. However, the CM made it clear that unless Sonia brings up the subject of Odarpu Yatra herself, he will not rake up the issue.
Rosaiah however, assured the pro-Jagan Cong leaders the government would provide security to Jagan if he goes on Odarpu yatra.
