Vijayashanti arrested

In deference to the orders of Election Commission, the Banjara Hills police on Saturday arrested Telangana Rashtra Samiti MP from Medak, Vijay Shanti and produced her before the Nampalli courts.The court remanded Vijaya Shanti to a 14-day judicial custody after which she was shifted to the Chanchalguda Jail. Her advocates, however, moved a bail petition.

The TRS activists created a commotion at her Banjara Hills residence as the police went to arrest her. However, the police dispersed the TRS supporters before arresting her.The police descended on her residence while she was addressing a press conference on Saturday.

During the press conference the cine actor-turned politician said ``I am ready to  face arrest. I am not afraid of being arrested but I would like to know on what  basis the case has been filed against me.’’

``I will be leaving for Siddipet to see Harish Rao who will be filing his nomination papers today. Later, I will be taking part in a Padayatra at Dubbaka. So, the police can  arrest me at any time and we will not use  any force to ressist the arrest,’’ she observed.

The manner in which the police behaved with our party workers was really regrettable. Actually, I wanted to know on what basis the case has been filed  against me. The Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh should answer this question, she retorted.
