As per expectations, the Election Commisson on Friday issued a notification for the conduct of by-polls in 12 Assembly constituencies in Telangana region for July 27.
The notification, which sets in motion the polling process, also instructs the authorities to make elaborate arrangements for the filing of papers by the candidates. The Congress and the Telugu Desam have not yet announced their nominees for the ensuing polls.
The elections for Sirpur, Chennur (SC), Mancherial, Yellareddy, Nizamabad (Urban), Korutla, Dharmapuri (SC), Huzurabad, Siddipet, Warangal West, Vemulawada and Sircilla Assembly constituencies are necessitated by the resignations of 10 TRS MLAs, one TDP and a BJP MLA in protest against the “unfair terms of reference” for the Srikrishna Commission.
The last date for filing papers is July 9. The scrutiny will take place on July 10. The deadline for withdrawals is July 12. The polling will be held between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on July 27. The counting will be taken up at 8 a.m. on July 30.
