The Election Commission would specially focus on those who attempt to provoke or fan communal passions through fiery speeches or use printed material such as posters which may incite regional sentiments.

The model code of conduct came into effect on June 21 immediately after the notification. Every effort will be made for the smooth conduct of the polls. In case of necessity additional forces may be ordered, Rao told reporters here.

However, the Election Commission has decided not to hold bypoll in Vemulawada and Sircilla where court petitions are pending in the matter.
