The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (Trs) on Tuesday moved the High Court challenging the Election Commission‘s notification withholding polls to two Assembly segments in Telangana region.

Admitting the Trs petition, a Division Bench of the Court issued notices to the Election Commission and posted the case for further hearing.

The Election Commission on Monday announced byelections to 10 seats such as Sirpur, Chennur, Mancherial, Yellareddy, Nizamabad (Urban), Koratla, Dharmapuri (SC), Huzurabad, Siddipet and Warangal West Assembly constituencies on July 27.

It also decided to put off elections for two segments - Vemulawada and Sircilla - as the election petitions against the winning candidates in last year's elections were pending in the court.

Reacting strongly to the decision of withholding of byelections to two assembly seats, Trs chief K.Chandrasekhara Rao termed it as undemocratic and a political conspiracy against its party.
