Taking a serious view on the rising prices of essential commodities in the state, the Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday directed the mandal officials to revive the food advisory sangha’s to control the prices at mandal level.The Chief Minister convened a review meeting with the revenue, food and civil supply officials at secretariat to take stock of situation on rising prices and control measures taken up by them.
He directed the officials to announce good remuneration for those who give information on hoarding of essential stocks in godowns and shops He said that the seized goods if auctioned publicly, they should be given market price. In this regard the Chief Minister would write a letter to the Centre.Attributing the price rise to the wide gap between supply and demand this year, he said the production had not increased corresponding to the demand and the cost of cultivation of vegetables and food crops due to increase in labour cost and other inputs.He said that the government has taken steps to control prices and will continue to take necessary steps.
