Primary Education Minister D Manikya Vara Prasad on Monday stated the state government would implement the Right to Education Act, which makes provision for compulsory education to children under the age of 14, in letter and spirit from this academic year.
Releasing the draft guidelines and inputs provided by the Centre for implementation of Right to Education Act to media men, the minister said the state government had incorporated some rules in the draft as per its requirements.
The State Government had set up a three-members expert committee to prepare the draft rules. The committee after consultation with the stakeholders and organisations had submitted its report to the government. The report would be placed on the official website of the department for eliciting opinion of people till June 30.
The minister asked the unrecognized school managements to register their schools with concerned officials for recognition by June 30. Otherwise, the District Education Officials would initiate disciplinary action against such schools.
The government would take a decision on reserving 25 percent of seats for poor students, who are unable to afford education, in private schools soon.
