Communist Party of India (Marxist) state general secretary B V Raghavulu on Tuesday demanded that the state government conduct an inquiry into the largescale corruption in the implementation of Jalayagnam project works by a sitting judge.
Talking to reporters, he said the Congress government owes an explanation to the people for the Jalayagnam projects as its party leaders raised objections against the irregularities in the works.
He urged the government to sack Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah to complete the probe and come out clean with corruption charges.
He said the Chief Minister should make his stand clear on the minister and state whether he wants to continue him or sack him.
He alleged corruption had been rampant in the Jalayagnam works right from the tenure of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s tenure.
If the government has any concern over the utilization of funds properly, it should immediately cancel the tenders and call fresh tenders, he stated.
