``We are not afraid to contest the by-polls in Telangana,’’ said Kodandaram convener of the Joint Action Committee here on Saturday. Addressing the members of the JAC here he gave a call for all the leaders of the Telangana region to stand united and fight the elections.
``The Telugu Desam and the Congress have no moral right to contest the by-polls. All the leaders in Telangana are united. It’s only the leaders in Congress and the TDP, who are having differences among themselves whether to contest the polls or not,’’ observed Kodandaram.
He appealed to the Congress and Telugu Desam to keep away from the by-polls and respect the sentiments of Telangana people.
Those who attended the JAC meeting today include Telangan Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhara Rao, representatives of JAC of Osmania University and Kakatiya University, and representatives of fringe Telngana unions in the state.
With the chief Election Commissioner sounding that the notification for the by-polls to the 12 segments in Telangana region would be announced soon, the JAC leaders met her to chalk out their strategies to contest the polls.
