Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday criticized the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government for failure to implement welfare schemes for the poor and middle class people effectively.

Addressing the state executive committee meeting of the party at Rajarajeswari Gardens here, Gadkari alleged the UPA government lagged behind in the implementing welfare schemes and the BJP was better than UPA in this aspect.

He also criticized the policies and programmes adopted by the UPA government were responsible for increase of prices of essential commodities in all states.

He said the BJP will set up a parliamentary panel to study the condition of Dubbaka weavers in Medak district and weavers’ suicides in general across the state.

The committee will tour all places and identify the problems of weavers and make recommendations the the Government. Based on the recommendations, the BJP will highlight the problems of weavers in parliament.

He predicted that the BJP would improve its performance and capture power in the next parliamentary elections.Gadkari called upon party activists to create awareness among the cadre to ensure the party captures power by 2014. He also asked the activists to nurture party as a major force in the state.

State BJP president G Kishan Reddy, senior leaders Bandaru Dattatreya, K Laxman and K Haribabu were also present.
