Refuting the charges leveled against herhusband, Mayor Karthika Reddy denied the interference of her husband in the formation of the ward committees.
The Mayor observed that husbands of all women corporators in GHMC had come to the Corporation meeting and her husband was one among them. Apart from accompanying her, he did not interfere with any of the official matters.
Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha alleged that the Mayor’s husband, Banda Chandra Reddy, had interfered with the constitution of ward committees in her constituency and threatened to complain to the party high command on that matter.
The trouble erupted when the five candidates suggested by Jayasudha for ward committee appointments, only three were appointed. Sources close to Jayasudha alleged that money has changed hands for these appointments and the MLA’s recommendations were ignored so as to accommodate the candidates of the Mayor’s husband, Chandra Reddy.
Defending their decision in removing those two candidates, the Mayor’s camp is arguing that the two candidates recommended by the MLA were staunch BJP men and hence could not be accommodated.
Taking up Jayasudha’s challenge, Karthika Reddy noted that she would take the issue to the Congress High Command in Delhi.
