Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram appealed to the people of Chittoor district and Congress leaders in the State to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister K Rosaiah in implementing the welfare schemes and proper administration in the State.
Participating in the Indiramma Housing program in the remote village of Kalikir in Chittoor district, the Home Minister observed that there is no dearth of funds in the State. All the welfare schemes will be implemented . Kindly co-operate with the authorities so that the schemes will reach the genuine persons.’’
The Home Minister flying all the way to the remote village of Kalikiri merely for the hour-long government-sponsored programme along with the Chief Minister is obviously making some eye-brows go up, especially in view of the sensitive political atmosphere prevailing in Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Minister s peaking on the occasion said The government is giving top priority to farmers followed by weavers. We will carry on all the welfare schemes without fail. If we have committed any mistakes while executing these welfare schemes , kindly bring them to our notice we will rectify them.
The CM applauded the Arogyasri program and noted that no other state in the country is adopting such a wonderful scheme.
Incidentally, Kalikir comes under the faction-ridden Pileru constituency represented in the assembly by none other than Assembly Speaker, N. Kirankumar Reddy who was also present at the meeting.
Others who were present at the meeting include Andhra Pradesh ministers Galla Aruna Kumari and Pilli Subash Chandra Bose.
