In view of the violence and unrest at Mahabubabad on Friday, the police took Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy into preventive custody and later released him on bail before shifting him to his Banjara Hills residence, said Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy.

Addressing the media after holding discussions with Chief Minister K Rosaiah, she observed, ``Director General of Police Girish  Kumar will submit a report on the Mahabubabad  incident.’’

Referring to the reported death of a person in Mahabubababd on Friday, Sabitha noted that  the victim did not die due to police firing but was shot by Konda Surekha’s gunmen during the stone-pelting incident. The victim did not die, but is still unconscious and the doctors are still monitoring the situation.

Former minister Konda Surekha who consumed sleeping pills in a bid to commit suicide was  shifted to a hospital in Khammam for further treatment.

An investigative report will be presented to the Government on the Mahabubabad  incident, the Home Minister noted.The injured in the firing have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.

In all seven cases were registered at Mahabubabad against the agitators who  destroyed the signaling system  and  set afire to a police vehicle on Friday.
