Telugu Desam party state chief secretary V Ramiah on Thursday demanded unconditional apology from Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah and MP P Prabhakar for making unsavoury remarks against Tdp president N Chandrababu Naidu.
In a press release issued on Thursday, Ramaiah said the Tdp leader has toured in Guntur, Prakasam and Nalgonda districts to study the farmers’ problems and inform them to the State and Central Government.
However, the Minister and MP misunderstood Naidu and made unsavoury comments against him.
He said the farmers in the state were facing problems mainly due to the wrong policies adopted by the Centre and state government.
He said Naidu met Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to highlight farmers’ problems only. “There was no need to get political mileage on the farmers’ issue,” he stated.
``The financial position of the state is in a pathetic condition. The government owes Rs 18,000 crore to contractors,'' he observed.
If the corrupt ministers deposit their bribes to state exchequer, the government can continue the welfare schemes launched by former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he pointed out.
He appealed to the Chief Minister to take action against corrupt ministers immediately .
