The Telecommunications network system in the Coastal Andhra Pradesh has been hit badly by Cyclonic storm `Laila’. The gale winds blowing at the speed of 80 to 100 kmph razed the towers and snapped cables in many areas.
According to sources, all mobile and internet services were affected due to Cyclonic storm. Except BSNL all other services were badly affected in the coastal areas.
“The BSNL has large number of towers in rural areas and is a major service provider in the districts,” a BSNL officer said.
The mobile users, particularly Bharati Airtel, Reliance, Tata Docomo, Aircel, Vodaphone and Idea faced problems as towers crashed due to strong gales in rural areas.
The services would be resumed after the favourable conditions return in the districts, the cable operators said.
