In the wake of an alert from the Meteorological Department that the cyclonic storm ‘Laila' is likely to cross the Andhra coast between Vizag and Ovgole on thursday, Chief Minister K Rosaiah convened a Tele-conference with the District Collectors of Coastal Andhra and reviewed the steps with the officials.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Collectors to assist the officials in rescue and relief operations in the flood affected districts.
He also asked the collectors to keep helicopters ready in case of emergency. He also directed the Collectors to set up control rooms at the district Collectorates, revenue divisional offices and tehsildar offices to constantly review the situation.
Teh rescue teams were directed to eacuate people from low-lying areas as a prcautionary measure.The chief minister appealed to the people to coperate witht the the officials to carry outthe rescue and relief operations.
