In a major catch, the Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Thursday unearthed assets worth Rs 5 crore belonging to Venkateswar Rao, Sub-Divisional Co-operative Assistant Director, Rangareddy District at his residence here.
A case of disproportionate assets was registered against Rao.The Acb officials raided the house of the district official and conducted simultaneous raids on residences of his relatives at Kavali and Vijayawada.
Venkateswar Rao’s wealth included 30 acres of farm land in Nellore and 1100 square yards of plot in Madhapur, Hyderabad.
The Acb sleuths also found a bank locker of Rao with the Central Bank of India, Kalyanangar. The Acb officials were still continuing their searches on Venkateswar Rao’s properties while his bank locker was being searched.
Venkateswar Rao, however, did not speak to the media and remained silent during the course of the raids.
