The Telugu Desam MLAs on Wednesday demanded the state government to release Singur water to the Medak and Nizamabad districts in view of the prevailing drought conditions.
Raising this issue in the assembly on Wednesday, the members sought to remind the promise of the Chief Minister, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, during the run-up to elections that Medak and Nizamabad had sole right over Singur water and its water would not be taken to twin cities once the Krishna phase-II was over.
They said the GO stating that water be released from Singur to Nizam Sagar only when it was above 518 ft, be annulled.The members also requested the government to stop the use of Singur water for drinking water purpose in twin cities and release the same for the district. The TDP members demanded the government to clear Rs 10.20 crore arrears to the red jowar farmers through the Andhra Pradesh Seeds Corporation.
