T activists forbid Ponnala from attending Prajapatham

Telangana activists waylaid the convoy of Minister for Major and Minor Irrigation Ponnala Laxmaiah as he came to attend Prajapatham programme at Ellaihgudem in Chennaraopeta mandal in his home district on Monday.

The Telangana activists waylaid the Minister with the help of huge trees trunks across the road and raised slogans in favour of Telangana.

The Telangana joint action committee members raised slogans against Ponnala and demanded that he resign in support of Telangana.

One of the activists climbed atop a water tank and threatened to jump off demanding that the minister spell out his stand clearly on Telangana issue.

Later, the police took him into custody.‘Ponnala, go back,’ the activists shouted and did not let the Minister take part in the programme. Tension mounted in the area for sometime after the Congress and Telangana activists indulged in fisticuffs. The police arrested 50 persons in this connection.
