Alarmed over the increasing acid attacks against women in the State, Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy on Tuesday stated that the government would give compensation to those victims, who become physically handicapped due to acid attacks.
Talking to reporters after convening a review meeting with his department officials at Secretariat, she said the government had proposed to give compensation to the victims based on the severity of damage to the organs.
She said the state government was contemplating to bring an Act to deal with cases of acid attacks on young girls.Sabitha said she would request the Chief Minister to mount pressure on the Centre to amend the Central Act to deal with acid attacks.
