Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Friday directed the Police Department to take stringent action against the perpetrators of violence.

Talking to reporters after chairing a review meeting with Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, City Police Commissioner A K Khan and other top-brass over the prevailing situation in the Old City, Rosaiah said no one involved in the communal strike would be spared.

“I am giving a free hand to you to deal with anti-social elements. Don’t spare anybody and deal with them with an iron hand,” he said.

Stating the government would consider violence in the Old City as ‘serious’, he directed the Corporation officials to make arrangements for removal of all party flags immediately after the programme.

The government would not tolerate any violation of law and order and restore peace at all costs in the Old City, he asserted.

He urged all political parties not to get carried away by sentiments as they disturb peace in the violence-affected areas.

He asked all the leaders to help the government restore peace in the Old City.
