Bharatiya Janata Party floor leader Kishan Reddy on Friday demanded that the Government pay an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to each family of victims of comunal strife, who were killed in the Old City.

Kishan Reddy told reporters after submitting a memorandum to Chief Minister K Rosaiah at his residence, that he urged the government to conduct probe into the issue by a High Court judge as the City Police Commissioner had stated the attacks were premeditated.

“It is necessary to get at the truth through a judicial inquiry as the riots were engineered by certain divisive forces in an organized manner,” he pointed out.

He appealed to the government to give a free hand to the police to deal with perpetrators of violence, including law enforcers for their omissions and commissions.
