Mass director Boyapati Srinu shares good rapport with Nandamuri Balakrishna and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu. The director was given the responsibility of shooting a documentary of the Godavari Pushkaralu. Unfortunately, filming the documentary at the Pushkaralu led to the death of 29 pilgrims, due to heavy stampede. CBN and Boyapati were slammed then over the incident.
Boyapati made two blockbusters- Simha and Legend with Balakrishna. The duo was supposed to team up for the third time for a film. However, Balakrishna and Chandra Babu gave him the responsibility to direct TDP ads. The ads directed by Boyapati were aired vigorously in pro-TDP media ahead of the general elections in the state.
Apparently, people of Andhra Pradesh felt the ads are over dramatic as there was zero effect on the voters. Some feel that, they even had negative effect on TDP chances in the elections, as besides praising welfare schemes of TDP; the ads presented YSRCP in most negative manner. TDP suffered worst ever defeat in the assembly and lok sabha elections in the state.
Like for the TDP leaders, the humiliating defeat was a big shock for Boyapati who might have thought his ads will play key role in TDP winning the elections. The big question is Balakrishna who already postponed his film with Boyapati will ever work with the director following TDP’s great defeat in the elections.
