Clarifying Government’s stand on Hyderabad, Chief Minster Roasaih said on Monday that Hyderabad is a part of Zone VI and not a free zone. The CM called for an all-party meeting on Free zone issue at 4 p.m. today as the Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to review its October 2009 judgment declaring that Hyderabad was not a part of Telangana but a free zone in so far as recruitments and postings in government are concerned.
Responding to CM’s answer, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, a senior leader of Telugu Desam Party said ``let us pass a resolution in the Assembly about the free zone issue and forward it to the Centre for its consideration.’’
``As all the parties are of the view that Hyderabad is not a free zone why cal for an all-party meeting on this issue,’’ he added.
Replying to Nagam’s statement Chief Minister said ``as there some legal litigations in the Free zone issue, I called for an all-party meeting. If the House wants to adopt a resolution without any meeting and forward it to the Centre then I have no objection.’’
Meanwhile Minister for Higher Education, Sridhar Babu said `` the government is committed in implementing GO 610.’’
As reported earlier the State government filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the Hight Court judgment on free zone issue. Setting aside the High Court judgment, the Supreme Court declared Hyderabad a free zone.
