Answering a question on the crisis before the Telugu film industry due to video piracy, the Minister said that the Control of Organised Crime Act (COCA), which had lapsed in 2003, will help the government tackle video piracy.

She said that the Act had lapsed due to ‘sunset’ clause, and its revival will go a long way in helping the government fight organised video piracy.

She said that video piracy posed a serious threat to the Telugu film industry and successive Congress governments had taken a number of steps to curb the menace.

She claimed that conviction rates in video piracy cases was less as complainants turned hostile.
