The Telangana Rashtra Samiti leader T . Harish Rao lashed out at Congress MP, Lagadapati Rajagopal alleging that the business tycoon ignored the people of his own state by selling power to the state of Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.
Referring to the power generated in the LANCO power project (annual output 220 MW), he said Rajgopal is selling the power to Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan rather than supplying it to the State which is reeling under severe power shortage.
Criticizing Rajagopal as a great exploiter, the Trs leader observed `` Lagadapati Rajagopal is using the gas from the Krishna Godavari basin to generate power but is doing nothing for the state.’’
Demanding the State government to take over the LANCO project and make it a state entity, Harish Rao questioned Lagadapati’s genuine concern for the state. "How can Lagadapati Rajagoapal who wanted Andhra Pradesh to be united, ignore the people of Telangana. Why can’t he supply the power to the Telangana region if he thinks that they are his brothers and sisters?, ‘’ Harish Rao remarked.
Clarifying Harish Rao’s doubts on the issue of power supply to the State, the LANCO officials said ``initially they offered the power to the State government one year back. But at that time the state has excess power supply and then they had to make a deal with Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan to supply them the power for the next couple of years. The deal cannot be broken midway through.’’
In case the deal is not honored then the LANCO will have pay a heavy amount as compensation. ``Will Harsih Rao bear the brunt of paying the compensation,’’ the LANCO officials mooted.
