Congress MPs of Telangana region met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday and discussed with him the latest developments in the state.
Referring to the students who took part in the agitation recently the MPs expressed their concern about their future. Fearing the cases filed against them during the recent agitation in the State, they appealed to the Home Minister to withdraw all cases pending against the students.
The MPs said that all the cases registered against the students in all the regions of Andhra Pradesh (Telangana , Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra) should be lifted. With the case filed against them, the students are not in a position to concentrate on their studies and are even trying to take the extreme step of committing suicide, the MPs lamented.
Responding to their request, Chidambaram said he would discuss the matter with Chief Minsiter K Rosaiah and will soon take a decision on the students.
Referring to the pension of Telangana freedom-fighters the MPs requested the Home Minister to speed up the proceedings.
