Students of Osmania University boycotted the exams on Tuesday following the death of a second year BTech student, Saikumar, who committed suicide for the cause of Telangana.
The Ou authorities annOunced that the exams scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday have been postponed and the revised dates will be annOunced later. The rest of the exams will be held as per schedule.
Meanwhile tension prevailed at Gandhi Hospital where the body of Saikumar was lying. The Ou vice chancellor Tirumala Rao, who went to Gandhi Hospital to see the dead body of Saikumar was gheraoed.
With the police not granting the students the permission to take the body of Saikumatr to Ou campus there was jostling between the police and the students. The police had to use mild lathi charge to disperse the students. JAC convener Kodandaram who was also present at the time of lathi charge suffered minor injuries.
