Chief Whip Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday advised Telugu Desam leader N Chandrababu Naidu not to oppose bauxite mining in the state by stating that the activity will spell doom to the flora and fauna apart from large-scale displacement of tribals.
When the House met for the day, the Chief whip suggested the Opposition Leader to desist from making such statements on mining lease agreements.
If the alumina based industries start functioning it will be the tribals who are living in this region who would be benefitted, he pointed out.
He said the Telugu Desam Government made an attempt to lease out the mining leases to a Dubai company when the TDP was ruling the state. Due to stiff opposition from various parties the then Telugu Desam government dropped the plan.
“The TDP has the history of blatant violation of norms while giving lease permits for mining in the state,” the Chief Whip alleged.
The TDP is diverting the attention of House by raising petty issues and using the House for protecting its self-interests, he pointed out.
``The Congress government has implemented several schemes and have taken good measures to improve the living conditions of tribals,'' he added.
