The arrival of Srikrishna Panel signals the beginning of the assessment on the basis of facts and not of threats or coercion. This was amply made clear by the panel, which said it would give a positive report on Telangana if the facts corroborate the contention that Telangana has been discriminated against in the last 50 years.

However, going by the statistics provided to the leaders of various political parties and bureaucrats, the ground realities present a different story. The records reveal that except for Guntur, Krishna, West and East Godavari districts, the districts in Coastal Andhra and  Rayalaseema have received less fund than those of Telangana districts.

Even Telangan Rashtra Samiti president K.Chadrasekhar Rao is thoroughly convinced  that it was a reality. Against this backdrop, the TRS leader cannot still stick on to his old slogan of `Telangana is backward’. So, of late, KCR has now adopted the Gandhian slogan of `Self  Rule’.

KCR is shrewd enough to hoodwink the Telnanganites in the name of backwardness and  job reservations but he may find it tough to convince the panel, which only goes by facts  but not threats or speculations.

Maybe, KCR has another trick up his sleeve to play against the panel.
