The budget presented by Chief Minister K Rosaiah is merely a jugglery of figures with no concrete benefits to the people, said Telugu Desam Party chief and Opposition leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu here on Saturday.
Passing scathing remarks on the budget, he said ``the allocation of Rs 15,000 crore to the Jalayagnam projects is an eyewash. Last year, they allocated the same amount, but could not complete a single project and this year it will be no different. At this rate, it will take another 50 years to complete the Jalalyagnam projects.’’
Naidu alleged there was only a nominal increase in the allocation for welfare sectors and the Government has failed on the economic front. The budgetary allocations failed to reflect the aspirations of the people, he said and added that there was no mention of welfare programmes for artisans, unorganised sector, farm labour and senior citizens in the Budget.
The Government has raised the VAT, vehicle tax and registration charges which are a burden on the common man, he noted..
