Lagadapati's political sanyas for Telangana.

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Thursday announced his willingness to take political renounciation provided Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated.

Interacting with media persons here, the Congress MP said he has total faith and confidence in the efficiency of the Justice Srikrishna Commission appointed to look into the constitution of Telangana state besides other issues.

He said it is unwise and futile to compare Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s administration with that of Chief Minister K Rosaiah. He was reacting to newsmen’s questions concerning the law and order situation in the state. He declined to elaborate any further.

Recalling the former chief minister, who had apprehended that the people might require a visa to enter Hyderabad in the event of the State being bifurcated, Lagadapati said YSR  had the vision to anticipate the things to come.

It was well known in recent history that the Vijayawada MP was the first person to tender his resignation after the Centre expressed its intention to concede the demand for separate Telangana statehood in December last. Lagadapati also went on fast for the cause of  `integrated Andhra Pradesh’ after Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao spearheaded the stir for T-state.
