Police are mulling over subjecting accused in Palagani Vaishnavi murder case to narco analysis and lie detection tests to elicit more information, it is reliably learnt.
Vaishnavi's father Palagani Prabhakar Rao died of heart attack after his dauther's murder. As the main accused Venkatrao did not cooperate with the police, he may be put to narco tests. After being taken into custody, Venkatrao was taken to the police armed reserve grounds for interrogation on Friday. However, two-days of interrogation by the police could hardly buttonhole him. The police believe that besides Venkatrao, Srinivasa Rao and Jagadish, there may be other brains behind the murder of Vaishnavi and car driver Lakshmana Rao.
The police now are focusing their attention to the circumstances surrounding the murders. Venkatarao has never used his personal mobile recently. The police are probing the incoming calls to his mobile since January 15. Some suspects were being questioned.
Based on the confession given by Venkatrao on Dec 7, the police prepared a remand report. He confessed that in 1992 he poured rat poison into Vaishnavi's outh forcibly, but timely medical help saved her. He also told the police that the relatives of Vaishnavi went to his office and beat him up.
Even Vaishnavi's mother Narmada Devi called on Commissioner of Police KV Rajendranath Reddy and sought a detailed investigation into the kidnap and murder of her daughter. She suspected the hand of Venkateswaramma, Palagani's first wife, and also the sister of Venkatrao. The police are consulting legal experts with regards to the narco tests.
