Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Saturday agreed to release Rs 100 crore for 25 paise interest scheme for the poor and Abhayahastam.
After attending a review meeting on implementation of Abhayahastam and old age pensions at the Secretariat, Rural Development Minister V Vasantha Kumar told newsmen on Saturday, that Chief Minister K Rosaiah has agreed to sanction Rs 100 crore additional grant for Abhayahastam and 25 paise interest scheme.
Vasantha Kumar said of the 42 lakh applications received for Abhayahastham scheme, the Government identified 4 lakh beneficiaries. The objective of the YSR's welfare scheme is to provide financial support to women at the fag end of their life thus reducing dependence on children.
He said the Chief Minister reviewed the development works taken up under the World Bank assistance. He expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the schemes. He said the Government would seek Rs 1,000 crore aid from World Bank for completing pending development works.
The meeting decided to send a proposal to the Centre by April.
