As we reported, Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth and India's top director Shankar's 2.0 movie Telugu theatrical rights were sold out to Rs.80+ crores. The credit for this humongous pre biz is attributed to Shankar.
Irrespective of hits and flops, Shankar's every film generates huge hype and does record pre release business in Telugu states. His previous film 'I' Telugu version was sold out to Rs.27 crores excluding satellite rights.
On the other hand, Rajinikanth's Kabali's theatrical rights were sold out to Rs.25 crores excluding satellite rights.
Moreover, 2.0 is being made with a universal theme and the makers banked on the huge success of Robo which itself was helmed by Shankar then.
Neither Rajini nor Akshay can claim the credit of huge business done for the film. 2.0 is basically a director's product and so is the business done accordingly.
