Khammam, Feb. 4: Hundreds of pro-Telangana activists, under the banner of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) staged a novel agitation in this district headquarters town of Khammam on Thursday.Demanding formation of separate Telangana, the agitators cooked their food on the main thoroughfares in the town and had the food on the road itself.The agitational progarmnes were mainly at the Collector’s Office and other important junctions.Earlier, they staged a dharna in different parts of the town and raised slogans demanding formation of Telangana state.
Addressing the dharna camps, the chairman of the district unit of the Telangana Non- Gazetted Officers Association, Mr. K. Ranga Raju, demanded that if the Centre fails to introduce the necessary bill in the Budget session of Parliament for the formation of Telangana the ongoing agitation will be intensified.Referring to the constitution of the Justice Sri Krishna Committee, he said that under this pretext the Centre was only trying to delay the process of bifurcation of the State. Mr. Raju called upon the people of Telangana to join the agitation and unitedly fight for the cause of separate Telangana. The JAC convener, Mr K Kanaka Chary, the leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders, Mr Abdul Nabhi and Mr Dokuparthi Subba Rao, participated in the agitation.
