The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday described the claims being made by the TRS Government on distribution of three acres of land to landless Dalit families as fake and a publicity stunt.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana BJP Headquarters here, BJP National Executive Member Perala Shekhar Rao alleged that the State Government was furnishing inflated figures pertaining to distribution of land and also the amount spent for the purpose. He said that most of the beneficiaries, who were allotted the land in the year 2014, were yet to get the registrations done on their names. Further, he said many allottees were not handed over the possession of the allotted lands. Citing an example, he said four Dalit families were allotted land in Buttapur village of Konda Pedduru mandal of Nirmal district on June 1, 2015. However, he said that the land was neither registered in the name of beneficiaries nor they were given the possession.
The BJP leader also alleged that the TRS Government was showing inflated figures on its expenditure on land distribution scheme for poor Dalits. While the government's website claims that Rs. 345 crore to distribute land for Dalits, information secured through an RTI application says that actual amount spent was Rs. 248 crore, as per the GO released in the year 2015. He asked the State Government to clarify on variation in amounts mentioned in the website and the RTI query.
Shekhar Rao said that the TRS Government has been announcing various schemes to lure various sections of the society. However, he said the implementation on most of the schemes was only 5-10%. He said almost half of the amount allocated for each scheme was being spent on publicity. He said BJP District and Mandal presidents have been directed to gather complete information on non-implementation of three acres of land for Dalit families’ scheme.
