New Delhi, Feb 3: Within hours of the announcement of the five-member Telangana committee, its chairman Justice B N Srikrishna flew in to Delhi from Mumbai.He is expected to hold consultations with the Union Home Ministry officials before taking over his new assignment and work out detailed plans for the functioning of the panel. The time-frame and terms of reference and other arrangements for the committee will be announced by the Home Ministry in a couple of days, the sources told newspersons.
The terms and references are being drafted and will be finalised in consultation with the Chairman of the Committee and announced shortly, the Home Ministry sources added.Reacting to the constitution of the panel by the Centre, several political parties have expressed their opinions on the panel. The all-party Telangana Jon Action Committee convener Prof Kodandaram said it would wait for the terms of reference of the Telangana committee before giving its views.
``It is too early to pass any comment at this moment,’’ said Kodandaram. “We would like to know the terms of reference and the time-frame set for the committee,” Kodandaram added.The JAC would meet later in the day to discuss the issue.Senior Telugu Desam MLA N. Janardhan Reddy, who represents the main Opposition party in the JAC, said his party would respond after the terms of reference of the committee are announced.
