IT growth in Telangana better than national average: KTR

Information Technology Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Thursday said that the Telangana's IT/ITeS expots have registered an impressive growth rate of 13.85% during 2016-17 which is about 4% higher than the national average.

Speaking after releasing the report for the financial year 2016-17, KTR said that the direct employment generated by Telangana IT sector reached 431,891 with 24,506 new professionals in the last year added to the list. It also provides indirect employment to about 7 lakh people. He said that the growth figures were quite encouraging and Telangana was able to counter the IT slowdown elsewhere in the country.

KTR also listed out the new initiatives take by the Telangana Government to promote use of IT in various departments.
