Hyderabad, Aug 7:-
The rate of inflation may have come down, but the price of essential commodities, particularly rice, pulses and oil, have gone up considerably in the retail market. This is mainly because the Government is not committed in holding a check on the traders who are hoarding alleged the Opposition parties during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Friday.
He said that spiraling up of prices of essential commodities is mainly due to the trader-friendly attitude of the Congress Government. It is because they have collected enough funds from these traders before the elections.
Recalling the statements made by the Government he said that despite the claims by the Government that the production of food grains has gone up then where is the necessity for the prices to soar so high.
He remarked that the Govt had not taken the right steps in procuring the food grains for storage but instead allowed the private traders to store. The traders are now creating an artificial scarcity of essential commodities and jacking up their prices and diverting them to the black market with the support of ruling party leaders, the MLA alleged.
He further asked the Government to submit the details of stock which was seized by the authorities during their raids on godowns and hoarding places. The whereabouts of seized essential commodities is still a mystery.
