All residential schools will have common menu: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Monday directed the officials to provide common menu and facilities for students studying in SC, ST, BC and minorities residential schools across Telangana State.

Addressing a review meeting on residential schools and women residential colleges at the State Secretariat today, the Deputy CM said that the common menu should be applied in all residential schools from the current academic year. He said the common menu should be circulated to all departments concerned. He said non-vegetarian food should be provided to students on Sundays. He said all schools would also have common Academic Calendar. All students will also be provided with one Health Kit each, he said.

The Deputy CM also informed that one Women Residential Degree College will be established in all revenue divisions while one Tribal Women Residential Degree will be set up in ST dominated areas by next year. He said there was a need to set up more number of residential degree colleges to facilitate higher education for girls. He said all colleges should also introduce job-oriented technical courses.

A committee, headed by Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra, has been constituted to finalise the courses. The Committee has been asked to submit its report within 15 days by incorporating the available opportunities in the fields of agriculture, nursing, veterinary and Information Technology. The Committee was also asked to suggest whether new colleges should be established or the new courses be introduced in existing college.

The meeting was attended by SC Welfare Minister Jagadish Reddy, ST Welfare Minister Azmeera Chandulal, Special Chief Secretary (Education) Ajay Mishra and other senior officials.
