Congress senior leader and former union minister Kapil Sibal on Friday alleged that there was no difference in agenda being implemented by BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre and TRS Government in Telangana State and both have failed to fulfill their promises.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Sibal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao were surviving on the basis of false promises. While Modi Government has failed to provide support price to the farmers, KCR Government has turned a blind's eye to the suicide by farmers. He said both the governments were equally bad for the farmers. He said both the governments were not serious on implementing Land Acquisition Act 2013. He said that while the Prime Minister has failed to provide two crore jobs, KCR was yet to fulfill the promise of giving one lakh jobs in the State.
Sibal said that the TRS Government has failed to fulfill any of the major elections promise like providing double bed room houses to poor or three acres of land for Dalit families.
Speaking about Reservation Bill, he said that the new bill was faulty as the cases where reservation has exceeded 50% ceiling were pending with the Supreme Court. Therefore, he said the Bill could not be sent for Presidential Assent. Further, he said that the BJP was against giving reservation to Muslims. Therefore, he said it was wrong to expect BJP Government to include Telangana Reservation Bill in Scheduled 9 of the Constitution.
He also expressed concern over the volatile situation in Kashmir and blamed PDP-BJP Government in the State for its failure to restore normalcy. He said that the State Government had lost the confidence of people which was evident from the lowest percentage of voting in recently held by-elections.
Sibal said no section of the society was happy with the performance of BJP or TRS Governments. He said poverty and inflation was on the rise and even banks are unable to provide loans. He said Modi Government was responsible for bringing economic disaster in the country. He said the private sector too was not getting any investments.
The Congress leader said true Hindus believe in truth and non-violence. But Narendra Modi practices fake Hinduism and therefore, advocates violence. He said people have a right to decide what they should eat and what they should not. However, he said that the BJP Government has been trying to impose restrictions on the personal habits and behaviour of people in the country.
