Hyderabad, Jan 27:  Disturbed by the view that the Centre was ignoring the plea for separate Telangana, the Pro-telangana activists have threatened to obstruct the conduct of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches to be played in Hyderabad.According to media reports, the activists want the government to focus on more important issues such as the demand for a separate state rather than worry about providing security to entertainment events.

The venue of  IPL matches  in Hyderabad, the Uppal Stadium, is  a stone’s throw from the Osmania University – the hub of the students' movement – being run by an Andhra Association, which is offending the Telangana agitators. The  Joint  Action Committee students of Osmania  University  students  said  even though the DGP Girish Kumar is assuring players of security, they will not have any matches played in Hyderabad.

They’ve also warned of dire consequences if the authorites go ahead with the schedule of matches in Hyderabad. The DGP, however, has brushed aside these warnings. Earlier, the IPL organizers had shifted the opening ceremony and match to Mumbai following security concerns in the wake of the Telangana agitations.
