Warangal, January 23: Police resorted to cane-charge Telangana activists after they tried to take out a procession here on Saturday morning.According to sources, humiliated over the delay in the formation of Telangana state, a youth who attempted suicide at Hasanparthy three days ago, was admitted to the M.G.M Hospital where he died on Friday night.Karunakar, a 25-year-old youth who was taking active part in the Telangana movement, in a fit of impulse, doused kerosene over himself at his house on Tuesday.

He sustained 80 per cent burns and was shifted to the M.G.M Hospital here by his family members.After struggling for three days, he died on Friday night.On Saturday, Telangana supporters took out a procession with the body of Karunakar towards Hanamakonda when the police intervened and declined to allow the procession. In the ensuing milee there were heated exchange of words between the police and processionists. Consequently, the police resorted to lathicharge the rallysts and activists.

In another incident at Jangaon, M. Ramalinga Chary (30) committed sucide by running into train at Jangaon on Friday. He was an active supporter of Telangana movement. Presuming that Telangana will not come, he took the extreme step. He is survived by wife Srujana and two sons. After post-mortem, the body was taken to the Hyderabad-Warangal highway where the activists staged a rasta-roko.
