ESL Narasimhan sworn-in full-time Governor

Hyderabad, Jan 22:  Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan has taken over as the full-fledged Governor of Andhra Pradesh on Friday morning.State High Court Chief Justice Anil Ramesh Dave administered the Governor’s oath of office at 9.45 a.m. at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister K Rosaiah, his ministerial colleagues and a host of senior Government officials attended the oath-taking ceremony.Narasimhan occupied the Raj Bhavan as the acting Governor of the state on Dec 28, 2009 after Narayan Dutt Tiwari quit the Governorship amid great turmoil in Andhra Pradesh, which was afflicted by agitations for and against Telangana statehood.

Tiwari was also disgraced by the worst-ever scams of sexual perversions, which stained the sanctity of the Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhavan.Born in 1946 in Tamil Nadu, Narasimhan is a science graduate from the University of Madras and a postgraduate in political science from the National Defence College in New Delhi and joined the Andhra Pradesh cadre of the Indian Police Service in 1968. He has also passed his LL.B examination from the Madras Law University. He is married to Ms Vimala Narasimhan.

He has also worked in the Intelligence Bureau for several years until he retired as Director of the Bureau on December 31, 2006. He also held office in the Ministry of External Affairs between 1981 and 1984. He was the first secretary in the Moscow Embassy. He was appointed the first Governor of Chhattisgarh on Jan 19, 2007 and took over office on Jan 25. He was appointed to take the additional charge of the Governorship of Andhra Pradesh  on December 27, 2009.
