Hyderabad, Jan 19: The Joint Action Committee of Osmania University students called for an emergency meeting on the death of MCA student Venugopala Reddy on the OU campus.Leaders of various political parties visited the campus to pay their homage to the departed student.Damodar Reddy, senor Congress leader who visited the campus said it was unfortunate that Venugopal ended his life. ``I feel as though I have lost my son,’’ the former minister said.
Harish Rao, Telangnna Rashtra Samiti MLA said `` the Centre should at least open its eyes now and come out with a clear-cut stand on Telangana. It is high time for the Centre to act on the Telangnana issue.The host of leaders who visited the campus on Tuesday included BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya and N Janardhan Reddy of Telugu Desam.The JAC leaders urged the MLAs from Telangana region to tender their resignations to the speaker. Such resignations by the MLAs would create a political crisis in the state, and thus will force the Centre to take a clear-cut stand on Telangana.
The JAC leaders threatened to stage dharnas in front of their houses if they don’t resign by tomorrow.The students further demanded a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the parents of the deceased.Venugopala Reddy hails from Suryapet of Nalgonda district.During the emergency meeting in the afternoon, the JAC will also chalk out the future course of action.Students from various colleges in the city are turning out in large numbers to pay their tributes to Venugpopala Reddy. As the pressure is mounting up every hour, the police are finding it difficult to control the situation.
