AP Opposition leader and Ysrc chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday took part in the people’s ballot (praja ballot) organized by the CPI demanding the Centre to grant Special Category Status to AP. The Ysrc chief who is on a two day tour to the district, told the reporters that AP can be developed only with the special status. The special status to the state will compensate the losses the state incurred due to the bifurcation of the state. Mr Jagan said that the state government should pressurize the Centre again on the issue and ensure that the state gets SCS tag. SCS will also generate employment to lakhs of unemployed youth in the state, he said.
The Ysrc chief participated in the Dasara fete at Pulivendula. In Pendlimarri , he met the farmers and interacted with them. Groundnut farmers informed the Oppostion leader that they were given seed coupons and that the officials took thumb impressions while distributing seeds. To this, Mr Jagan suggested the officials to distribute coupons for groundnut seeds based on farmers' pass books. He demanded that farmers should be supplied quantity seeds without insisting on their thumb impression.
