KCR tampering with Nayeem's diary: Shabbir Ali

Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of tampering with the diary of naxal-turned-gangster Nayeem, who was killed in an encounter with police on August 8.

Speaking to media persons in Tandur, Shabbir Ali said that the Chief Minister appears to have gained control or access to Nayeem's diary, which was seized by the police after gangster's encounter. "Legally, the police department should have submitted the diary, along with other seized material including weapons, before the court. Since the diary reportedly contains the names of some big politicians, industrialists and other personalities who were directly or indirectly associated with Nayeem's criminal activities, it was with held and the same is now being misused by the Chief Minister himself," he said.

Shabbir Ali said that the contents of diary were being leaked selectively in the newspaper and channel owned by the Chief Minister. "All the leakages are politically motivated and part of a larger conspiracy hatched by the Chief Minister," he said adding that the diary should be put in public domain if Kcr had no malafide intentions.

The Congress leader asked as to why Kcr was hesitant to order CBI probe into the Nayeem's cases. He said Nayeem was killed on August 8 and within four days (on August 12th), he had demanded CBI enquiry. He said probe into Nayeem's cases involves multi-disciplinary, inter-state and high-level investigation. Therefore, an IG rank official will not be able to conduct a fair and comprehensive investigation and these cases should be handed over to CBI for a thorough probe.

Shabbir Ali also slammed the Chief Minister for confusing people over reorganisation of districts. He said that the TRS leaders and also officials have been giving misleading statements every day on formation of new districts. They are proposing Chevella, Medchal, Viqarabad and other names for new districts thus leaving the common people in utter confusion.

Describing Kcr as U-turn Chief Minister, Shabbir Ali alleged that Kcr has become habitual of confusing people. "The Chief Minister proposed shifting of Chest Hospital, OGH, Secretariat, etc., to trigger a debate and then simply forgotten them. He tries to keep people engaged on some or the other issue for about 10-15 days and then comes up with a new issue. He must stop playing these mind games," he demanded while accusing the government of not adopting a scientific approach to form news districts. He said that the government was not taking factors like geography, history, population, economy, etc., into consideration to create new districts. "Kcr is making people of Telangana fight among themselves over reorganisation of districts. His divisive politics is not in the interest of Telangana State," he said.

Shabbir Ali also criticised the State Government for mishandling the suicide case of Sub-Inspector Ramakrishna. He said non-registration of FIR against DSP Sridhar Goud, who was named in suicide note, has now come under scanner. He said it was highly regrettable that the government was trying to hush up the case wherein one Sub-Inspector committed suicide in the Assembly constituency (Gajwel) represented by the Chief Minister himself. He said no one was above law and all those responsible for the suicide of SI Ramakrishna should be booked and arrested.

Earlier, Shabbir Ali paid rich tributes to former minister late M. Manik Rao on the occasion of his 12th day ceremony. He met and consoled the family members of Manik Rao at their residence in Tandur. Recalling the services of Manik Rao, he said that the departed leader had played a major role during Telangana movement. He said Manik Rao was associated with the statehood movement since 1969. He said Manik Rao's contribution in strengthening the Congress party would always be remembered.

Former ministers Gaddam Prasad, D. Sridhar Babu and other senior leader were also present.
