Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has directed the officials to incorporate the suggestions and objections being received from the general public for the draft notification for formation of new districts in the State.
The Chief Minister on Tuesday conducted a review meeting with the District SPs, Collectors and senior officials at MCRHRD Institute at Jubilee Hills on formation of new districts. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, DGP Anurag Sharma and other senior IAS and IPS officials. Ministers Jagadish Reddy and Mahender Reddy were also present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said new districts, along with new Revenue Divisions and Mandals, should become functional from Dassera festival. He advised the officials to first complete the process of formation on new Mandals and then initiate the process for Revenue Divisions and Districts. He said Revenue and Police Departments should start functioning by Dassera and other departments could be made functional after appointment of officials and allocation of offices.
The Chief Minister said that the process of districts' re-organisation should be done under the direct supervision of District Collectors and other senior officials. He said there has been a demand for creation of 75 new mandals across the State. However, he said 45 new mandals have already been announced and the demand for 30 more mandals was under serious consideration. He said after re-organisation, each mandal would have an average population of 35,000.
KCR said that the creation of small districts would ensure effective implementation of government schemes.
