Hyderabad, Jan 11: In deference to the dictates of the Congress High Command, Pradesh Cong Committee president D Srinivas on Monday asked all Cong MLAs to take back their resignations and help maintain normalcy in the state.Indicating that the Centre will not initiate the process of Telangana state formation until the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh gets back to normal, the PCC chief asked the party leaders to withdraw their papers.Meanwhile, the legislators from Telanagana regions met at the New MLA Quarters to discuss the issue of withdrawal of resignations as suggested by the PCC president.
The members, however, did not hammer out any decision and may meet on Tuesday to chalk out their future course of action.According to Telangana Congress sources, the PCC suggestion to take back their resignations at the behest of the Centre may have to be discussed in consultation with the JAC leaders.The PCC chief who met the district and city Congress Committee members at Gandhi Bhavan to review the membership drive and discuss the party's organizational polls told newsmen that the membership drive was delayed due to drought,
death of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, floods, GHMC elections and Telangana agitations.The meeting suggested to the PCC chief to appoint two members each for polling booths for conducting organizational elections. There were 66,052 polling booths in the state.The meeting also discussed the year-long programmes to be taken up for celebrating the 125th anniversary of Congress party.
